Adverbial Clauses — A Busy Saturday

How it works

Time clauses tell us when something happens. Use before for the earlier action, after for the later action, and when for the moment something happens. Use because for a reason, as soon as for the moment right after something, where for a place, although for a surprise, and until for how long you wait. In this story, Ana runs errands all over town — but 20 time words are missing! Read the story carefully and fill in each blank with before, after, when, because, as soon as, where, although, or until.

Examples: Before I left home, I made a list.  ·  After I paid, I went home.  ·  When the bus arrived, I got on.
