Welcome to Our Community

Characters:

Setting: Outside an apartment building. Anna stands holding boxes, looking lost. Brian walks by.

BRIAN: Hi there! You look new here. Can I help?

ANNA: Oh, hi... Yes, I just moved in today. I don't really know anyone.

BRIAN: Welcome to our community! I'm Brian, your neighbor from apartment 3C.

ANNA: I'm Anna. I'm in 2B. Is there a place I can meet people here?

BRIAN: Sure! We have a community center right around the corner. Actually, Maya from the center can tell you everything. She's right over there.

(Maya walks towards them, smiling.)

MAYA: Hi Brian! Oh, a new face! Welcome! I'm Maya, coordinator at the community center.

ANNA: Nice to meet you, Maya. I'm Anna. Brian mentioned there's a community center nearby?

MAYA: Yes! It's a great place to make friends and get involved. We have language classes, art workshops, even yoga sessions. Do you like any of those?

ANNA: I do! I'm learning English and yoga sounds great, too.

BRIAN: Perfect! Maya, isn't there an event tonight?

MAYA: Yes, tonight we have our monthly community potluck dinner. It's the perfect opportunity for you, Anna. You can meet neighbors and try foods from different cultures.

ANNA: Oh, that sounds wonderful, but I don't have any food to bring.

BRIAN: No worries! It's your first day. Just come and enjoy. Next month you can bring something special from your culture.

ANNA: Thank you both! I'm starting to feel much better about moving here.

MAYA: That's what community is all about—helping each other and making everyone feel at home.

BRIAN: Exactly. Plus, tonight I'll introduce you to some other neighbors. You'll see, everyone here is friendly.

ANNA: That's great! I'm really excited now. Where exactly is the community center?

MAYA: It's very close, just across the street behind the supermarket.

ANNA: Got it! I'll unpack first and see you there tonight.

BRIAN: Great! Welcome again, Anna. We're happy you're here.

ANNA: Thank you, Brian, Maya. It already feels like home.

(Maya and Brian wave as Anna exits, smiling and confident.)
