Weather Conversation – Would, Could, & Might

Characters:
(Setting: A break room or cafeteria. Maria is looking out the window.)
Maria: Oh, look! It's so cloudy today.
Juan: (Walks over to the window) Yes, it is. It could rain, couldn't it? The sky looks pretty dark.
Maria: Hmm, it might rain, you're right. The air feels a little heavy. I hope not, though. I walked here today. If it rained heavily, I would get completely soaked!
Juan: Oh, me too! I forgot my umbrella. What's the weather usually like here in June? I would expect it to be quite warm by now.
Maria: Well, June would normally be warm and sunny. We would usually get a lot of sunshine. But sometimes we have a few rainy days, especially in the early part of the month.
Juan: That's interesting. Where I'm from, it's always hot. We have a rainy season and a dry season, but it's never really cold. I couldn't imagine living somewhere with snow!
Maria: Snow! I've only seen snow in movies. Is it nice?
Juan: It could be nice to see it once, but I don't think I would like to live with it all winter. I might miss the sunshine too much! In my country, we have four seasons. Winter is very cold, sometimes with snow.
Maria: It could be very beautiful, especially when it first falls. But it also makes driving difficult, and it could be very, very cold. I would definitely prefer spring.
Juan: Why spring?
Maria: Because the weather is mild. It's not too hot, not too cold. The flowers start to bloom, and the days get longer. It's lovely. If it could stay like that all year, I'd be happy!
Juan: Sounds nice. I like warm weather. For me, the perfect day would be sunny and about 25 degrees Celsius.
Maria: Yes, that's a good temperature. Today, it's only about 18 degrees. A bit cool for June, I think. We might need sweaters later.
Juan: Yes, a little cool. But it's good for studying, not too hot to focus.
Maria: True! Maybe the sun might come out later.
Juan: I hope so!
