Scene: A community English class after school. The students are cleaning up and talking.
Lina: (Sighs) I really needed this class today. Sometimes I feel like my goals are too far away.
Sara: What do you mean? You always come prepared. You’re doing great.
Lina: Thanks, Sara. But... my dream is to open a bakery. I love baking, and I even worked in one back home. But here, I don’t know where to start.
Marco: That’s a beautiful dream, Lina. You bake amazing cookies! But yeah... starting a business takes time.
Sara: Maybe you could take a small business class? Or sell your baked goods at local markets first?
Lina: That’s a good idea. But I also need better English to talk to customers. That’s why I come here.
Marco: Me too. My goal is to become a nurse. I’ve always wanted to help people. I used to be a hospital assistant, but I need a certification here.
Sara: Wow! That’s amazing. Nursing is a noble job.
Marco: It’s hard, though. I work full-time, and then I study at night. Sometimes I feel too tired to keep going.
Lina: But you haven’t given up. That’s the important part.
Sara: You know, I’m retired now. I taught school for 30 years. Now my goal is to travel and volunteer. Maybe teach children in other countries.
Marco: That sounds so meaningful! But... you’re still learning English?
Sara: (Laughs) Yes! I want to feel confident when I travel. And I believe we should never stop learning.
Lina: That’s inspiring. I guess our goals are all different, but we share the same path—learning and growing.
Marco: Exactly. One step at a time.
Sara: Let’s help each other. Lina, I’ll help you practice customer phrases. Marco, I can help with medical vocabulary.
Lina: And I’ll bring cookies next week!
Marco: Deal!
Sara: Deal!
