In Case of a Medical Emergency 🚑

Characters:

Scene: Inside a university library study hall.

(The scene opens with DAVID sitting at a desk, then suddenly falling to the floor. SARAH gasps and kneels beside him.)

SARAH: David! David, are you okay?! He's not **responding**!

(Sarah grabs her phone and dials quickly.)

SARAH: Please, please pick up!

OPERATOR: 911 Emergency. What's your emergency?

SARAH: Hi! My friend has **collapsed** and isn't responding! He's **breathing**, but he won't wake up!

OPERATOR: Okay, ma'am, stay calm. Tell me your exact location.

SARAH: We're on the third floor of the university library, near the history section!

OPERATOR: Thank you. I have **paramedics** on the way. Now, can you tell me what happened? Did he complain about anything before he collapsed?

SARAH: No, nothing. We were just studying, and then he suddenly fell out of his chair. He was fine one minute ago!

OPERATOR: I understand. Listen carefully: I need you to check his breathing again. Look at his chest to see if it's rising and falling.

SARAH: It is. It’s slow, but he's breathing.

OPERATOR: Good. Now, please put him on his side to make sure he doesn't **choke**. Can you do that?

SARAH: Yes, I can. (Struggling a bit) Okay, he’s on his side now.

OPERATOR: Excellent. Stay on the line with me. The paramedics will be there very soon. Do not **hang up**. Just try to keep him as comfortable as possible.

SARAH: Okay. Thank you so much!

(Sarah stays on the phone, looking down at her friend as the sound of sirens grows louder.)
