EMMA: Smart. I almost got lost — this building is huge.
DAVID: Tell me about it. I walked past this room twice before I came in.
EMMA: So what made you sign up for this class?
DAVID: I need better English for college. I start my first semester in the fall. How about you?
EMMA: I want to improve my English for work. I just started a new job at a hotel, and I talk to guests all day.
DAVID: That sounds interesting. Do you enjoy it?
EMMA: I do, but I get stuck when guests speak too fast. That’s why I’m here.
DAVID: I know that feeling. I’m afraid to ask my professors to repeat themselves.
EMMA: Maybe we can practice together — before class or during the break.

DAVID: Yeah, about ten minutes away. I usually walk here. How do you get here?
EMMA: I take the bus. It’s fine, except when it rains.

DAVID: Not yet. I was hoping to ask the teacher about it today.
