Would Rather – Daily Dialogue

Setting: Two friends are deciding what to do after work.

LISA: Hey, do you want to grab dinner downtown tonight?

JAMES: Hmm… I’d rather stay in and order something.

LISA: Tired from work?

JAMES: Yeah. It’s been a long day. I’d rather relax on the couch with some noodles.

LISA: That actually sounds pretty good. I’d rather skip traffic anyway.

JAMES: Great! Let’s order and watch something.

Note: “Would rather” is used to express a preference.
