Choices: The Life Problems

Characters:

Setting: A cozy café, mid-afternoon.

ALEX: (sitting, staring into space)

MIA: Alex! There you are! I haven't seen you in ages. (sits)

ALEX: Mia, wow. It’s been too long. How's life?

MIA: Busy, stressful. Office life isn't what I imagined.

ALEX: Tell me about it. I'm still chasing dreams and living on noodles.

(LEO approaches their table with coffee.)

LEO: I couldn't help overhearing. Alex, your music last Friday was great.

ALEX: Thanks, Leo. You're probably my biggest—and only—fan.

LEO: (smiling) Don't lose hope. Remember, I left a well-paid job to open this café. Sometimes, risk is necessary.

MIA: That's courageous, Leo. Honestly, I've been thinking about changing careers, but I'm terrified.

ALEX: And I’ve been thinking about quitting music. Maybe it's time to get realistic.

LEO: But what’s "realistic," Alex? You love music. Mia, what career change interests you?

MIA: Teaching yoga. But my parents expect stability, and I'm already 30...

LEO: Age isn't the problem. Fear is. My family was worried too. But it’s your life, your choice.

ALEX: It feels easier said than done. Rent, bills... real life isn't forgiving.

LEO: True, but regret is harder to live with than struggle.

MIA: Leo, did you ever doubt your decision?

LEO: Many times. But doubt is part of growth. Alex, you’ve inspired people. Mia, you have the passion to help others. That’s worth fighting for.

ALEX: Maybe you're right. I don't want to wonder "what if."

MIA: Neither do I. I think... I’ll sign up for yoga instructor training.

LEO: Good for you, Mia! Alex?

ALEX: I'll keep playing. Maybe a day job too, but I'll keep the dream alive.

LEO: Life isn’t about avoiding problems, it’s about facing them head-on.

MIA: To taking risks.

ALEX: To passion.

LEO: To making brave choices.

(They clink cups, hopeful and determined.)
