Scene: A small examination room at a clinic. Ali is sitting on the chair. Dr. Miller enters with a tablet.
DR. MILLER: Good morning, Ali. I’m Dr. Miller. What brings you in today?
ALI: Good morning, doctor. I’ve been feeling really tired, and I have a headache that won’t go away.
DR. MILLER: I see. How long have you had the headache?
ALI: For about four days. It’s usually worse in the evening.
DR. MILLER: Do you have any other symptoms? For example, a fever, cough, or sore throat?
ALI: No fever and no sore throat, but I do feel a little dizzy when I stand up quickly.
DR. MILLER: Okay. On a scale from 1 to 10, how strong is the pain right now?
ALI: Maybe a 6. It’s not terrible, but it’s uncomfortable and it makes it hard to focus at work.
DR. MILLER: Have you been sleeping well?
ALI: Not really. I usually go to bed late, around midnight, and I check my phone before I sleep.
DR. MILLER: That might be part of the problem. I’m going to check your blood pressure and then listen to your heart and lungs.
The doctor checks Ali’s blood pressure and listens with a stethoscope.
DR. MILLER: Your blood pressure is a little high, but not dangerous. I think your headache is related to stress, lack of sleep, and maybe not drinking enough water.
ALI: That makes sense. I’ve been very busy at work this month.
DR. MILLER: For the next week, I’d like you to drink more water, take short breaks from your computer, and try to go to bed at the same time every night.
ALI: Okay, I can do that. Should I take any medicine?
DR. MILLER: You can take a mild pain reliever if you need it, but don’t take more than the recommended dose on the package.
ALI: All right. How long should I wait before I come back?
DR. MILLER: If the headache doesn’t improve in a week, or if it gets worse, please come back or call the clinic immediately.
ALI: Thank you, doctor. I really appreciate your advice.
DR. MILLER: You’re welcome, Ali. Take care of yourself, and I hope you feel better soon.
